Respect the Intelligences of Kids with Intellectual Disabilities

Star In Her Eye

Today, when I arrived at school to pick Fiona up, I saw that a new paraprofessional was temporarily working with her. I shook the aide’s hand and gave her my name. She gave me hers. Then she looked at Fiona:

“What’s my name?” she asked.

“I don’t know,” Fiona said.

“What’s your name?” The woman asked.

Fiona was silent.

“What did we do today?” I don’t remember if Fiona replied, but the woman continued in this vein, asking my kid loads of questions Fiona was already supposed to know the answer to: “Where am I going next? … Where did I tell you I was going?”

Adults do this to Fiona all the time. They do it to her more than they do it to my other, typically developing kid. These kinds of recall questions aren’t genuine requests for information, such as, “Fiona, are you hungry?…. What was your favorite…

THERE IS A BATTLE OF THE PARASITES AND THE JOLLY GREEN GIANT SO FOLLOW THE NATURAL GREENS

green-1968590_1920Health Issues!  We all have them.  I know so many people right now that are dealing with health issues in their bodies.  I am one of them.  I have female problems and this past month was so bad that I was going to call my Doctor and schedule the surgery that she wants me to have.  The night before I was going to call her I was in tears.  Asking the Lord “Why is this happening to me, Lord do you want me to have this surgery?”  I was asking him to give me a sign.

That night I had a dream that I was in this large room and the flooring was made of plants and herbs with lots of shades of beautiful greens.  I started to roller skate and he told me to FOLLOW THE PATH OF THE HEALTHY GREENS!

This large room represented my body and the…

The Inner Voice of Delusion

[…] Source: https://wp.me/p7CttI-wz […]

You climb the ladder of my thoughts
and yet flowers repent time spent
because your action comes too late.
You’ve destroyed a magic garden.

Perhaps you’ve done this half unconsciously
but my body and soul are now
the recipients of a million wounds
that will conform a landscape of scars.

There was a time when I believed
the voice of your soul was breath to me.
Now it just comes as a stare (stair) of winds
moved by the same chained melody.

And while I look up the lifting clouds
watching the sun come up again
I know I finally learnt something
from my inner voice of delusion.

GREATER THINGS ARE YET TO COME!

The Godly Chic Diaries

However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived ” – the things God has prepared for those who love him – these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God” – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

I’m a strange mix of procrastination and planner. Super OCD about the important things, super laid back about everything else. On the outside, and on paper it may look like I have things figured out. (Definitely don’t😬) but I do things that are important to me. Things that feed my soul. And that’s the beauty of life. Each chapter is your own write – you get to choose what you want and how you want to do it….😊

So I’ve been on a little blog-hiatus! I’ve been reflecting…

Be In Control And Not Be Consumed

DAVID NG

Before you can control your conditions, you must first control yourself

Napoleon Hill

How many times we have allowed the circumstances to consumed us, the situation to paralyzed us and the conditions to overwhelmed us?

For instances, when we are having a bad day, our bosses or colleagues are not cooperating with us, our car broke down in the middle of no where, when our money got stolen, when everything in our life is going south. And due to all these things happening to us, we sometimes feel discouraged, depressed and dejected.

If so, we have then allowed the environment and circumstances to determined our thoughts and feelings. The external conditions have consumed us that sometimes we are no longer in control of our internal emotions. The problems, the circumstances and the conditions have drowned and consumed us in the way that we have lost ourselves.

However, we…
