昨夕のNHKの「あしたも晴れ！人生recipe・選」からで、且つ、40数ヶ月振りのpart 2です。録画を楽しく観ました。しかし、楽しくはない思い出が蘇えって来ます：
大学に入って後の、上に進むに連れての失望であり、幾つもの記事に成って居ます。今の自分に採っての感想です：
多くの例は、楽しみ乍でなければ、実行は困難。唯一話題には無かった私の術です：
チリ紙は一度の使用後、直ち、には捨てない。

Encouragement for Revolution of the University
大学革命のすすめ 管理から独自の経営へのaction plan
新年号の“Chemistry & Chemical Industry”の山本尚に依る論説です。長期の滞米中の経験に基づく、危機的な状況に在る日本の大学への、明解なる処の、厳しい提言です。先ずは提起された９項目です：
(1) 大学執行部は経営力を、
(2) 今大学に必要なのは、思弁的な目標設定ではなく、明日への行動である、
(3) 研究力強化の為には個人秘書を、
(4) 会議の抜本的管理を、
(5) 研究教授と教育教授を分ける、
(6) 教育と研究には効率でなく効果を重視せよ、
(7) 執行部の英断が欲しい、
(8) 時代を先取りするprojectを、
(9) 大切な真の純正研究を。
其々に応える前に、私が、本blogの開設以来言い続けた事の要約です。更にその前に、筆者と対比させての、既述の、私の体験です：
(0) 40数年前の３年間余の、博士研究員としての、在米、
(1) 上記を含む（挟み、院生時代を含めて）40年余の（基礎科学の）研究・教育、
(2) 以降十数年の（研究・啓蒙を含む、blogの投稿等の）文筆活動。
応えです：
(0) 真っ先に私の言いたい事は、“大学革命以前の教育革命”そして“教育革命以前の政治革命”です。それ以前での、飴と鞭とを万能だと思い込み、大学に無理強いする政財官の無能な人物、及び、それに抗し得ない（若い）大学人の存在こそが根源的な問題。
(1)「大学執行部は経営力を」に同意；既述の様に、私の居た米国の州立大学の理事長は州民の選挙で選ばれて居た。
(2)「今大学に必要なのは、思弁的な目標設定ではなく、明日への行動」、即ち、革命的闘いである。
(3) 研究力強化の為には個人秘書を；今の（化学系での、講座制での）准教授、助教も？！
(4)「会議の抜本的管理」；で、（社会との関わりを忘れた）専門馬鹿の養成？
(5) 研究教授と教育教授を分ける；学部と院を分けてなら了解で、既に、time shiftの導入なのでの、部分的な導入在り？
(6) 教育と研究には効率でなく効果を重視せよ；効果有っての効率の意？
(7) 執行部の英断が欲しい；内容次第だが、既述の様に、「top downはacademic freedomに根差す学問の場には相応しくない」が私の持論。
(8)「時代を先取りするproject」こそが（才有る）個人の創造性に掛かる。
(9) 上記に加えての、「大切な真の純正研究」（私の基礎科学）こそが学問の自由の所以。
最後の一言です：
直前の記事にも触れた様に、日本の大学の状況よりは増しな、欧米の大学とても数多の問題を抱えていると踏んでいます。

(Newark, NJ-AP) — The New Jersey Department of Health is issuing an alert about possible measles exposure at Newark Liberty Airport. Officials say a Belgian traveler infected with the disease flew into Terminal B on Christmas Eve and may have been in other parts of the airport as well. FDA Approves First Digital Inhaler With Tracking App
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first and only digital inhaler with a built-in sensor that connects to a companion mobile application that can monitor usage as well as strength of the user’s inhalation.
The ProAir Digihaler, from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, contains albuterol sulfate 117 µg powder for inhalation.
The new inhaler is approved for use in people aged 4 years and older to treat or prevent bronchospasm in individuals with reversible obstructive airway disease and to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm. The approval is based on review of a supplemental new drug application submitted by Teva to the FDA.

Can you believe that 2018 is already over! This was the year that had a January that lasted for five months and a summer that was over in the blink of an eye. And it was the year that I finally decided to put aside my fears and start blogging! I’ve followed the blogging world for so long and back in March I figured I might as well just give it a try! So I started this little adventure and it has been an amazing ride so far!
I’m so blessed to have had this experience and to have been able to meet so many amazing people through it. Here’s the thing. I largely navigated my life- my thoughts, my emotions my entire life. Growing up I ALWAYS had my head in the clouds, thinking of the life I want to create for myself. I used to be afraid of pushing through gifts and talents I knew I had because of the possible exposure it would cause, being a private (introverted) person that I am. Of course it’s been dead for a long time. We just didn’t know.
We bought into the bullshit that Hollywood sold that it was possible for regular people to make real change in America.
But it’s not possible.
Our government has been infected now by a tight, dense web of connected people that goes back at least a century.
The industrial revolution enabled just a few people to gain too much power and too much wealth in American society. These wealthy families moved well beyond us and enabled them to endow, own and control think tanks, universities, foundations and media empires which have strangled our government and us in the process.

Is it possible to attain a state where the ego actually dies? Well, i’ve met one or two people in my life in whom it appeared that this had occurred – the ego had literally dissolved. But in those rare cases, i don’t think it was a result of the individuals’ own choice or effort – it was more like a spontaneous combustion, an act of grace.
So i do believe that death of ego is possible, but i don’t think it is an attainable goal. If something like that is going to occur, it’s beyond our control, and it’s extremely unlikely for most of us. A Digital Exhibition of the History of U.S. Public Libraries
The United States has a long-running respect and tradition when it comes to public libraries. Libraries came about as an answer to the Enlightenment era, when science, reading, and learning found significance in much of the western world. Access to books was difficult for most people pre-Revolutionary War. Benjamin Franklin, along with members of his free-thinking Junto club, established the Library Company for members- a starting point toward the eventual public library system. This system provided jobs for women and public access to knowledge.
Digital Public Library of America curated an online exhibition called “A History of US Public Libraries“. This exhibit gives an overview of how libraries came to be and their place alongside American history with uploaded documents and photos. See the story here.

The Russian Levada Center is showing Putin’s approval rating as dramatically dipping.
There is no explanation given for the recent approval dip. The main reason, however, was midnight shocker of the pension age increase announcement during the Russian World Cup in June 2018.
Russia’s continuing economic downturn as a result of Western sanctions is also having an effect.
Russia’s crisis in Ukraine and especially in the Kerch Straits is certainly not helping.
The previous low for Putin was in December 2011, when hundreds of thousands took to the streets, protesting the falsification of the parliamentary elections of that year.
