One day she woke up early in the morning but that morning was not  a good morning. It was 4′ O clock in her wrist watch which had been stopped working. She got up from bed and saw the time in wall clock but their was darkness in the room, so she removed the curtains, it was still dark outside but street light was enough for watching time.

As she turned back and looked at watch suddenly lights gone, there was dark again. But it was not that much dark, she reached the window and heard few noises.

Devotional (Prayers)

From The Darkness Into The Light

The prayers that accompany this devotional are structured around the four steps of prayer: praise, confession, thanksgiving, and intercession. In this devotional, we’ve added a fifth section, petition, to allow you to pray scripture for yourself. When you follow the Moms in Prayer four-step prayer process day by day, you will learn to invite God’s power into every area of your life. It all starts with praise…
First Things First: We Start with Praise
How do you define a prayer?

Is it a quick plea as you dash into an important meeting? Or maybe it’s a deal you try to make with the Lord when money is tight—something like “Lord, if You help us make our rent this month, then I’ll be sure to attend church this weekend.” Or maybe you’ve given up praying all together, because You think God’s just too busy to be bothered with the likes of…

Billy Graham Speach

From The Darkness Into The Light

Billy Graham preaches at a 1978 Crusade in  Kansas City, Mo.

Time is collapsing on us. How brief is time? The Scripture says, “You have made my days as handbreadths, and my age is as nothing before You” (Psalm 39:5). If I live to be a hundred years of age, that’s nothing in eternity.

The Scripture says, “For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4). A watch in the night was four hours, that’s all. One day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day. The Bible says, “My days are like a shadow that lengthens, and I wither away like grass. But You, O Lord, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations” (Psalm 102:11-12).

Each of us has the same amount…

British Conservatives emulate Trump’s parade militarism

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This 17 August 2018 video from the USA says about itself:

Trump’s HILARIOUS Excuse For Scrapping Military Parade

Trump’s base will gobble this up. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Jayar Jackson, and Maz Jobrani, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss.

President Trump on Friday said that he was canceling plans for a military parade, blaming a $92 million price tag and local politicians in Washington, D.C.

The cost of the parade had appeared to be escalating, with reports on Thursday estimating it would be $80 million more than previously estimated at a time of rising debt.

Trump said “local politicians” in D.C. were responsible for the cost in announcing the cancelation, though he offered no specific evidence.”

Ford, Baidu LOI Further Evidences Continued International Automotive Collaboration

Simon Consultancy

In June, Baidu, Inc., China’s largest search and internet-related service provider, and Ford Motor (China) Ltd. signed a Letter of Intent to expand their strategic partnership.

Aimed at “mobility ecosystem” development for the next generation of automobiles, the announcement highlights promising areas where the companies plan to collaborate alongside one another in China, as well as in the fast-growing, competitive, and global mobility technology space. The areas of cooperation announced by the two companies: in-vehicle infotainment development, transportation cloud computing, vehicle connectivity, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing are critical for both companies as they seek to keep up with rivals, both old and new.

For Baidu, the continued partnership supports their aggressive move into the automotive realm and ambitions to keep up with Western tech and mobility companies. Their Apollo self-driving car platform, which Ford joined last year as a founding member, is a technology both companies hope will become…

A Child Of God | What I Have To Admit

Inside Cup

I was thinking about how adults want to shield children from swearing, sexual themes, alcohol, etc you know the drill. Yet…these same things, once “bad” are now “good” because we’re adults.

The idea of the world is that we are “mature” enough to handle the content as adults or as young as 13 for some of us (PG-13 anyone?). But seriously…how many adults do you know who are involved in any of these categories can handle them well?

Which got me to think about how Christ wants us to be like a child when we go to Him.

Either we are a child of the world or we are a child of God.

Prejudice Is Weakness

From The Darkness Into The Light

By Billy Graham   •   October 24   •   Topics: PrideRelationships

Judge not, that ye be not judged.
—Matthew 7:1

The word prejudice means “prejudging” or “making an estimate of others without knowing the facts.” Prejudice is a mark of weakness, not of strength. Prejudice is measured by computing the distance between our own biased opinions and the real truth. If we would all be perfectly honest before God, there would be no prejudice.

Read Billy Graham’s answer on how to replace prejudice with love.

Prayer for the day

You love each one of us with a love that breaks through all prejudicial barriers, Father. Forgive me for the times I judge others. Purify my heart, that I may be used to draw people together into the bond…

Leadership Insight from the Maxwell Bible, Day 22

From The Darkness Into The Light

Today’s reading is drawn from Romans 14.

The Values and Conscience of a Leader

How are we to respond to others who hold values different from our own? That’s the issue of Romans 14. Paul speaks in this passage not of eternal issues or absolute truths, but about “gray areas”—subjects that are questionable and maybe even fuzzy. Christians can differ on these issues and still be part of the same organization. On these issues, no scripture declares an unequivocal right or wrong. Note Paul’s counsel for situations like this:

  1. Be open, not condescending (vv. 1–3).
  2. Remember that everyone answers to the Lord, not to you (v. 4).
  3. Cling to your own convictions (v. 5).
  4. Whatever your values, your motive should be to please God (vv. 6–9).
  5. You are ultimately accountable to the Lord (vv. 10–12).
  6. Do not cause anyone to stumble (v. 13).

QUID EST VERITAS? – A question of truth in the age of fake news

fake-news-vovph-lapu-lapu-world-press-freedom-index-20171223

It is the duty and responsibility of journalists to deliver news and information to the public in a thorough, honest, and unbiased way. Doing otherwise would not only compromise one’s integrity and credibility, but would also negatively affect the public as they would be subjected to deception, falsehoods, and even unfair prejudice.

Unfortunately, this is what is currently happening today with the proliferation of fake news articles all over the globe, including the Philippines. The term fake news refers to a type of journalism that involves deliberately spreading misinformation through various media, such as news broadcasts or via the internet, with the intention of misleading audiences to promote an agenda, or to present a person or an entity in a negative light for another’s gain.

Succumbing to deception

While fake news has been on the rise in today’s world, becoming a buzzword of sorts as well as becoming 2017’s Word…

5 Ways to improve your sleep.

Less than average.

Getting a good night’s sleep is just as important for our health and wellbeing as having a healthy diet and getting regualr exercise.

Research has shown that poor sleep can have immediate negative effects on exercise performance, hormone levels and brain function.

Good sleep on the other hand, can help improve exercise performance, help you eat less and be generaly healthier.

Here are 5 tips to help you sleep better at night.

1. Control your light exposure.

Studies have shown that increasing your exposure to bright light during the day can have a positive effect on the quality of your sleep. These studies have mainly focused on people with severe sleep issues, but should also help improve your sleep if you have only moderate sleep problems.

The reason bright light exposure helps with sleep is becasue it helps keep your circadian rhythm healthy. Circadian rhythm is also known as your…

Nurturing Great Kids, Day 16

From The Darkness Into The Light

Today’s reading is drawn from Colossians 1:17.

He Holds Things Together

What ultimately holds a family together? The obvious things like time together, love, patience and kindness come to mind, but the real super glue that helps a family stick together is by loving and believing in Jesus Christ.

Look around. There are families falling apart everywhere. There are neighborhoods disbanding because of divorce and the residual effects from it. That in turn is causing communities and countries to suffer.

And the one thing that would help in holding people together is Jesus Christ. It sounds simplistic, but he is where we can find hope and healing. If your family can maintain their integrity to the cause of Christ, then your family has great potential to make a difference for Christ. If other families are inspired by your example, then family by family we can turn the tide—start a…

Changing Our Travel Impact

zero judgment • zero waste

I’ve read a lot about sustainability on the go — folks go to impressive lengths to cut down their plastic consumption and reduce their carbon footprint while travelling. Having just returned from a few weeks of being on the road myself, I’m reflecting on the low-waste efforts I found valuable and actionable.

Travelling low-waste is obviously a challenge! Life is full of uncertainties, and it can be anxiety-inducing to expect that between lodging, eating out, and transportation you’ll make zero trash. But you can try to reduce that impact!

Here are a few things I was able to do while jetting around, what I’ve seen or heard of others doing, and how I want to improve in the future.

The Low-Effort, Low-Waste:

Gestures that are easy to remember & limit excess waste:

  • Carry your water bottle everywhere! Unless you’re travelling in remote locations, you should have access to clean drinking…

Expansionism by predatory loans.

People in Western countries have seen with their own eyes the method of forcing sale of valuables of borrowers by predatory pay day lenders, short terms money lenders or underworld lenders. Basically the borrowers needing the money must use their valuables (watches, rings, antique items) as security to obtain short term loans from pay day lenders or money lenders or underworld lenders. The interest rate from these lenders are outrageously high (10% a week, or even 10% a day) such that the loan grows exponentially to the point that the borrowers cannot repay and have to lose their valuables.

This practice has now spread…

North Korea to hold military parade to mark 70th anniversary

Mr.IT

North Korea to hold military parade to mark 70th anniversaryHundreds of trucks carrying thousands of troops lined a Pyongyang riverbank in the pale light of dawn early Sunday, as nuclear-armed North Korea prepared to celebrate its birthday with a huge show of military strength. Sunday is the 70th anniversary of the 1948 foundation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as the North is officially known, three years after Moscow and Washington divided the peninsula between them in the closing days of the Second World War. Such set-piece dates are a mainstay of the North’s political calendar, particularly when round numbers are involved, and have traditionally been occasions for showing off its latest hardware.

Billy Graham Be Honest with God

From The Darkness Into The Light

By Billy Graham   •   September 8   •   Topics: Christian Living

The greatest blessing of giving is not on the financial side of the ledger but on the spiritual side. You receive a sense of being honest with God. You receive a consciousness that you are in partnership with God—that you are doing something constructive—that you are working with Him to reach the world for Jesus Christ. You are also enabled to hold on to this world’s goods loosely because the eternal values are always in view. How do you give? Is it liberally and cheerfully? Or is it sparingly and grudgingly? If you have been giving God the leftovers of your substance and your life, you have been missing the true joy and…

God’s Gift

From The Darkness Into The Light

“The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” Genesis 2:25

In previous generations, some people believed women were not supposed to enjoy sex. Even today some Christians still feel that sex between marital partners is somehow sinful or “dirty.”

But there’s nothing biblical about either viewpoint. The Lord created us as sexual beings and gave us the gift of physical intimacy as a means for expressing love between husband and wife. In the biblical account of the Garden of Eden, we are told that “a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.” The Bible says that before sin entered the picture, the first husband and wife were unashamed of their nakedness (Genesis 2:24–25).

Scripture also uses sexual symbolism to describe the relationship between God and man. (Look, for example, at Isaiah…

The Untimely Gap Year

Today is a sunny day and I know why it’s because the Supreme Court restored some of my lost faith in India today. I want to go out on a limb and say that all of humanity hasn’t yet been lost. I don’t know whether I’ll wake up tomorrow and have to retract that declaration but for now, I’ll let it be. Homosexuality is no more a crime in India, and if that’s not something to celebrate I don’t know what is.

I grew up in the midst of a society that considered ‘gay’ a bad word. As a kid who used to go through the dictionary for fun which said the meaning of ‘gay’ was ‘happy’ I didn’t know what all the fuss was about. But I heard kids teasing each other using the word as an insult, it didn’t make any sense to me. I have never had…

Sunday Meditation: Trust The The Holy Spirit’s Movement On Pentecost Strengthens Us

Orethapedia

When you are a prayerful purpose, you know the calling of the Holy Spirit. Today is the celebration of Pentecost. It is the arrival of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.

The mini-series The Bible aptly depicts what scripture says below:

The Holy Spirit entered you when you decided to give your life to Christ, to become a Christian. But we need to continually ask the Holy Spirit to lead us, to guide us, to help us do the things God wants us to do. When we’re growing as Christians, we should allow the Spirit to take control over more and more areas of our lives.

The Spirit is, first and foremost, God’s personal presence. The Spirit is a person and not merely a force. However, in order to let the text speak for itself, you have start on page one of the bible. Before creation ever even began, we…

Billy Graham Devotional

From The Darkness Into The Light

field of harvest

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion. It is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ. When you start out, you start out as a baby. You must be fed on the simple things of the Bible, and you learn to walk in your Christian life gradually. At first you will fall down and make many mistakes, but you are to continue growing. However, there are many people who have stopped growing. They remain spiritual babes all their lives. I am afraid that this experience is all too common today. Perhaps it is yours.

Do you remember the day when you gave your heart and life to Christ? You were sure of victory. How easy it seemed to be more than…
