It’s freezing cold at the opening ceremony and the venue has no roof

While athletes are used to competing in the cold — be it outdoors or in — fans will have to find ways to keep warm at PyeongChang’s open-air venues.

At the opening ceremony — starting at 20:00 local time (or 6:00 a.m. EST) — the temperature is set to range between 28F (-2C) and 23F (-5C), according to the Korean Meteorological Administration’s news conference Wednesday.

There’s no roof or heating at the Olympic Stadium so attendees will be given blankets, seat warmers and hats.
